When we were in Concord, Massachusetts, two years ago we visited the Old Manse, originally built by Emerson’s grandfather in 1770. For a time in the mid-1800s Hawthorne and his bride rented it, and you can still see the inscriptions that they etched into a window:
When we lived in MA a couple of decades ago, we visited many historic spots in and around Boston, but I don’t recall this one. Sweet about the etchings in the window; must have been some diamond he got her. 😀
