The last birding excursion for the spring migration of 2015, it's back out to Galveston and Bolivar Flats. 12-yr-old Scottie shows up other birders with an unlikely bird ID. Longish post with lots of beautiful birds.
Another nature hike at Brazos Bend State Park with a live recording of male alligators growling it out! Mommy Cardinal gets kissed by Daddy, and Green Heron works to choke down one big-ass crawdaddy.
This is post about NOT getting work done.
Enjoying March the best way we know how -- birding and camping in the yard.
Back from vacation! Some mountain photos and feathered beauties for you to feast your eyes. The American Dipper...finally. A longish (1,000 words) post with lots of photos. Come have a look!
Rush hour by the creek in the evening. Hear the sounds of the ducks and birds settling in for the night.
Photography in dim lighting can be difficult but not impossible. You too can get great images if you know how to set up your camera beforehand. Go to the post to listen to the sounds of the marshland birds while viewing the latest bird photos taken from Brazos Bend State Park. The peak birding season on the Texas Gulf Coast is only just beginning!
Birding again! I know, I know, it may not be your thing, but the birds are indeed beautiful. Come see how we spent a Valentine's weekend without the kids and bunnies.
This is a follow-up to yesterday's, twice the length (1,400 words) but worth the story -- 250 birds for The Big Year! I am hoping the nature photos will make up for the long read. Cheers, all!
